Our Story
Cook Insurance was founded in 1977 by Ron Cook right here in Apache Junction. Today, co-owner Steven Wade leads the agency from our office on Apache Trail – with a team carrying decades of hands-on Arizona insurance experience across every line they write.
We are not tied to any single insurance company. When clients call us, we compare multiple top-rated carriers on their behalf – and we keep doing that at every renewal. No single-company bias. No hidden incentives. Just honest advice from people who have been serving East Valley communities since before most of our clients were born.
We know Mesa. The Superstition Freeway corridor connecting east Mesa to the rest of the Valley. The manufactured home communities throughout the city’s eastern neighborhoods. The Red Mountain area and its proximity to the Tonto National Forest. The snowbirds and seasonal residents who winter in Mesa and head south to Rocky Point. We have been writing policies for every one of these situations since 1977 – from our office less than ten miles east on Apache Trail.

Why Mesa Insurance Is Different
Living in Mesa creates specific insurance challenges that generic online platforms and captive agents rarely understand. Here is what actually matters for Mesa residents.
Mesa's monsoon season runs June through September and brings high winds, hail, haboob conditions, and flash flooding to the East Valley annually. Many standard policies carry separate wind and hail deductibles that Mesa homeowners never notice until they file a claim. We review these before the season starts, not after a storm has already hit.
Eastern Mesa's proximity to the Tonto National Forest and the Superstition Mountain wildland-urban interface creates real wildfire exposure for homeowners in that corridor. Carriers have been raising premiums and non-renewing policies in Arizona's WUI zones. Pinal County - which borders eastern Mesa's growth areas - has seen significant non-renewal activity. As an independent agency, we access carriers that are still actively writing when others have pulled back.
East Mesa has a significant concentration of manufactured and mobile home communities. Standard HO-3 homeowners policies cannot cover manufactured homes - an HO-7 policy form is required. Cook Insurance has spent over a decade specialising in this specific market, working exclusively with A-Rated carriers who understand manufactured home construction and the lot ownership structures common in Mesa's communities.
Approximately 11.8% of Arizona drivers carry no auto insurance - roughly 1 in 9 vehicles on Mesa roads right now. US-60 and the Loop 202 are among the East Valley's busiest corridors. If an uninsured driver hits you on these roads, uninsured motorist coverage is what pays your bills. It is not required by Arizona law, which means many Mesa drivers are unknowingly exposed.
Many Mesa residents make regular trips to Rocky Point through the Lukeville crossing - approximately 3.5 to 4.5 hours southwest. Your US auto policy is legally void the moment you cross into Mexico. Through our Mexipass partnership, we provide fast, affordable A-Rated Mexico auto coverage for East Valley drivers before they reach the border.
Our Services
From personal auto and home insurance to commercial coverage for Mesa businesses, Cook Insurance handles every type of coverage Mesa families and business owners need – all from A-Rated carriers, all shopped across multiple companies so you never overpay.
Mesa drivers face specific risks - Arizona's minimum 25/50/15 liability limits rarely cover the real cost of a serious accident on the Superstition Freeway, and nearly 1 in 9 drivers on East Valley roads carries no insurance at all. We shop multiple carriers to match you with the right liability, collision, comprehensive, and uninsured motorist coverage at the best rate for your Mesa profile.
Mesa businesses face risks that generic policies miss - from the Falcon Field aerospace corridor to the Superstition Springs retail corridor to east Mesa contractors. We build commercial packages covering general liability, commercial property, commercial auto, workers compensation, and bonds - tailored to your Mesa business's actual exposure.
Mesa homeowners face risks most national policies are not built for - monsoon wind and hail with separate deductibles, wildfire exposure in eastern Mesa's WUI interface, and flash flood risk from desert washes. We compare carriers to find dwelling, property, and liability coverage that reflects what can actually happen in your part of Mesa.
East Mesa has one of the Valley's highest concentrations of manufactured home communities - and standard policies do not cover them correctly. We have spent over a decade specialising in this market, working exclusively with A-Rated carriers that understand manufactured home construction, wind ratings, and the lot ownership structures common in Mesa's communities.
Finding the right life insurance for your Mesa family does not need to be complicated. We walk you through term and whole life options in plain language, explain what each one costs and covers, and recommend a plan that fits your family's needs and budget - with no pressure and no jargon.
Your US auto policy is void the moment you cross into Mexico. For Mesa and East Valley drivers heading to Rocky Point through the Lukeville crossing, driving without local coverage can result in detention after an accident regardless of fault. Through our Mexipass partnership, we provide fast, affordable coverage before you reach the border.
Why Clients Choose Cook Insurance
We represent 14 carriers, not one. That gives residents real options at every price point - and it means we can shop the market again whenever your situation changes. No hidden bias toward any single company.
We have been serving Mesa clients from our Apache Trail office for decades. We know the East Valley's risks - monsoon season, wildfire zones in eastern Mesa near the Tonto National Forest, the manufactured home market, snowbird coverage needs. We do not learn your area from a ZIP code database. We are just down the road.
Every carrier in our network holds an A rating from AM Best. That rating is not a marketing label - it is a measure of financial strength. When our clients file a claim, the carrier has the reserves to pay it quickly and in full.
Steven Wade is in the Apache Trail office every day. When you call 480-986-4400, you are not routed to a national call centre. You talk to the person who owns the agency and has a personal stake in getting your coverage right.
Coverages
Personal, commercial, and specialty coverage – all under one roof, all from A-Rated carriers.
A captive agent works for one insurance company - State Farm, Allstate, Farmers, or whoever signs their paycheck. Their job is to sell you that company's products. They cannot shop around for you because they are not allowed to. An independent agent like Cook Insurance works with many carriers. That means more options for Mesa residents, honest pricing comparisons, and advice tied to your needs - not to any one company's sales targets.
Our Process
01
Tell us what you need to protect - your Mesa home, your vehicles, your business, your family, your budget. We ask the right questions upfront so we understand your full picture before we start shopping.
02
We compare options across multiple carriers to find the right coverage at the right price for your specific situation. Because we are independent, we can show you options a captive agent is simply not allowed to offer.
03
We walk you through your options in plain English - what each policy covers, what it excludes, what your deductibles mean in a real claim, and which option we recommend and why.
04
After you are covered, we are still here. Policy changes, claim questions, renewals, adding a vehicle - whatever comes up, you call the same number and talk to the same people.

Common Questions
These are the questions Mesa families and business owners ask us most. Don’t see yours? Call 480-986-4400 – a real agent answers.
Mesa homeowners face three risks that most national policies do not address properly: monsoon wind and hail with separate deductibles that many homeowners never see until a claim reveals them, wildfire exposure in eastern Mesa near the Tonto National Forest and Red Mountain WUI areas where carriers have been tightening underwriting, and flash flood risk from desert washes that is explicitly excluded from standard HO-3 policies. We review all three with every Mesa homeowner before placing coverage and compare carriers to find the right combination of protection for your specific address.
Yes. East Mesa has a significant concentration of manufactured and mobile home communities, and standard HO-3 homeowners policies cannot cover these homes. Cook Insurance has spent over a decade specialising in manufactured home coverage for East Valley communities. We work with A-Rated carriers who understand HO-7 policy forms, the distinction between pre-1976 and post-1976 HUD construction, community lot renters versus lot owners, and the detached structures - carports, storage sheds, canopies - that need to be individually valued in your policy. Call 480-986-4400 and we will identify the right coverage for your specific Mesa manufactured home.
Our office is at 11512 E. Apache Trail in Apache Junction - approximately 10 miles east of central Mesa via the Superstition Freeway (US-60). Most Mesa clients reach our office in 15 to 20 minutes. We are open Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, and Friday from 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM, and Wednesday from 8:30 AM to 5:00 PM. Walk-ins are welcome, and most clients have quotes the same day they call or visit.
Yes. Mesa and East Valley drivers are among the most frequent users of the Rocky Point corridor through the Lukeville crossing - approximately 3.5 to 4.5 hours from the East Valley. Your US auto policy is legally void the moment you cross into Mexico. Through our Mexipass partnership, we provide fast, affordable A-Rated Mexico auto coverage for Mesa drivers before they reach the border. You can purchase online at buy.mexipass.com/COOKIN2 before you leave Mesa, or call us at 480-986-4400 and we will walk you through the right coverage for your vehicle, destination, and travel dates.
Call us immediately at 480-986-4400. Arizona law requires your carrier to give you a minimum of 30 days notice before non-renewing - one of the shortest windows in the country. If your Mesa home is in or near the Red Mountain wildland-urban interface area or eastern Mesa's WUI-adjacent neighborhoods, your carrier may be restricting underwriting in your ZIP code. As an independent agency with access to 14 A-Rated carriers, we typically find replacement coverage before your deadline. A captive agent is limited to one company - we access the full market immediately.
Yes, and bundling frequently produces meaningful savings. We compare bundle options across our carrier network to find the combination that saves your Mesa household the most while keeping your coverage solid. We also run the numbers on whether splitting carriers - taking the best home rate from one company and the best auto rate from another - actually beats the bundle discount. Call 480-986-4400 or request a quote online and we will compare both options for your Mesa property and vehicles.
